Dad's fight for cancer

For the month of April I'm going to be walking 10,000 steps for my dad.

September 2023 will forever be etched in my memory as the month that changed our lives irrevocably. It was a time when our family was confronted with a devastating diagnosis: my father the biggest parramatta eels supporter you will ever meet, the rock of our family, was diagnosed with terminal bowel cancer.

I remember the day vividly. The diagnosis felt like a sudden gust of wind, knocking us off our feet and leaving us grasping for stability in its wake.

For my father, a man of quiet strength and unwavering resolve, the news was met with a mixture of shock and resignation. I watched as he absorbed the gravity of his prognosis, his eyes reflecting a myriad of emotions - fear, sadness, but above all, a fierce determination to face this challenge head-on.

In the days that followed, our home became a sanctuary of love and support as we rallied around my father, drawing strength from each other to navigate the uncertain road ahead. We immersed ourselves in research, seeking out the best medical experts and exploring treatment options that offered hope amidst the darkness.

Despite the grim prognosis, my father approached his treatment with remarkable courage and grace. From chemotherapy sessions that left him weary and drained to countless doctor's appointments, he faced each obstacle with a quiet resilience that left me in awe.

I’ve created this fundraising page to support Bowel Cancer Australia. Bowel cancer Australia is a 100% community-funded national charity dedicated to prevention, early diagnosis, research, quality treatment and care, so everyone affected by bowel cancer can live their best life.
